J.A. Morris

Message from J.A. Morris

“Everyone wants to ‘understand’ art. Why not try to understand the song of a bird?” The words of Pablo Picasso are the reason the pieces on this page, and the many pieces to come, are apart of my life. Not because of wanting people to “understand” the media on the canvas, but for people to feel something just as I did when the pieces were finished. The blade and the brush are tools from which those feelings are created. The hope for these pieces is that they can help you embrace those feelings and allow them to bring change to your life.

The website is far from finished, but I hope what you see does make a difference. Please feel free to comment on any of the photos.

About J.A. Morris

J.A. Morris is a Kentucky native, born and raised in the city of Lexington. He has worked in many fields, but has found that his true passion is found in the arts. The inspiration for his paintings and other pieces comes from many different aspects of life. Whether from a word out of the mouth of a friend, a note in a song, or a line from a film. Through the years he has learned that all of these have an impact on what happens in life and can become an influence when the blade and brush touch the canvas.

Being an Influence

The world of art has the ability to change a person’s life just by existing. In the case of Blade and Brush, we want to do what we can to change another person’s life for the better in any way we can. The way we want to do this is by reaching out to others in the community by using portions of all sales and donating it to the charity or mission of the month. A list of charities and missions along with their corresponding months will be listed in the near future.
